Anambra Teacher Flogs 12-Year-Old Student To Death

A 12-year-old student of a secondary school in Awka, Anambra State, Miss Chidimma Ukachukwu, has died after she was allegedly flogged by her teacher for failing to do her homework.

A reliable source in the school told the News Agency of Nigeria in Awka on Tuesday that the girl died on Thursday last week after she was flogged.

The source explained that the girl fainted after being flogged severally by a female teacher and was subsequently rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where she died.

The source also told NAN that the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Uju Okeke, then ordered the closure of the school as a result of the incident.

A NAN correspondent, who visited the girl’s family home, soon after she was buried on Tuesday in Awka, reports that the family was in grief. The girl’s father, Mr. Simeon Ukachukwu, confirmed the incident, saying it was a sad development.

He added that it was an act of God. But when Okeke was contacted, she denied ordering the closure of the school and said that the school was on midterm break. NAN investigation, however, revealed that schools in the state were not on midterm break.

This fact was corroborated by an official of the Nigerian Union of Teachers in Akwa South Local Government Area.

The Chairperson of the union in the local government, Miss Buife Ndigwe, told NAN that primary and secondary schools in the state would go on midterm break next week.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Mr. Ralph Uzoigwe, said that the matter had not been reported to the police, but promised that it would be investigated. -->

Los Angeles - Bobbi Kristina Brown has reportedly confirmed that she got engaged to her "adopted" brother Nick Gordon on her upcoming reality show reports E! News.

The daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston surprises her dismayed family with the news in a preview from her upcoming reality show Houstons: On Our Own, nervously telling them: "We're engaged!" Nick was informally adopted by Whitney when he was 12 and the pair were raised as brother and sister.

A source close to the family says they were "always close" growing up, but their relationship changed as they got older and they sought comfort in each other after Whitney's death in February and started living like a couple in Atlanta.

Negative influences The reality series follows the pair and other family members such as Whitney's brother Gary Houston, sister-in-law Patricia and Bobbi's grandmother Cissy Houston, have coped with life since her tragic passing.

Cissy recently announced her concern for her 19-year-old granddaughter Bobbi if she inherits the multi-million dollar estate left to her by her mother. Cissy fears the teenager will be corrupted by the "negative influences" in her life if she gets the inheritance, but it would seem that Bobbi Kristina is out to cause drama within her family.

The video shows the woman being irate while cursing out the bus driver before hitting him while he was driving. The bus driver then stops the bus and assaults the woman - saying ‘She want to be a man, I’m going to treat you like a man', after a passenger on the bus yells, ‘That’s a f-cking female’

Police shoot sales girl dead, injure 3 others

A 20-year old sales girl identified simply as Lucy, was on Friday was shot dead by policemen in the Apo area of Abuja. The girl was hit in the chest by bullets fired into a photography shop where she worked as a sales girl. Three other people sustained gunshot injuries when policemen from the FCT Police Command fired bullets indiscriminately in an attempt to enforce the demolition order of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council.

The policemen had stormed the area around 7 am with officials of Development Control Department, who had come to demolish illegal structures. But residents and indigenes, who felt that the government had no right to demolish their houses when they were yet to be resettled, resisted the operation. They claimed that the case was still in court and that their leaders had advised them to continue to live in the area pending the determination of the suit.

As the policemen shot indiscriminately to control the residents, bullets penetrated into one of the shops and Lucy was hit in the chest. She was rushed to Garki Hospital, but she was confirmed dead on arrival. Her body has been deposited in the mortuary. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, met the House of Representatives representing AMAC/Bwari constituency of the FCT, Zephaniah Jisalo, at the hospital when he visited. Inalegwu, who was in tears, assured the lawmaker that the case would be investigated.

“We are not sure what took our men there or what led to the shooting, it’s still a matter for investigation,” he said. Emeka Ani, owner of the photo shop, where the deceased worked, said that his sales boy also sustained gunshot injuries during the incident. He said, “From morning, the police surrounded our area. They said they came for demolition. All of a sudden, they started shooting sporadically. They shot into my shop and killed my sales girl. My boy also sustained injuries.

Lucy has been with me for about one month. Her sister brought her for me from Cross River.” The National Coordinator, Greater Gbyagi Initiative, Mr. Gimba Baiza, described the incident as wicked.

Man Without Face Fears Unborn Child Will Look Like Him

India - A father-to-be has spoken for the first time about living with no face – and how he’s terrified he has passed his condition onto his unborn child. Mohammad Latif Khatana, 32, from Kashmir, India, cannot see or work due to the severe creases on his face. He is now over the moon that his wife is seven months pregnant, but worried his son or daughter will look like him. He saya: “I cannot wait to be a father and have some happiness in my life.

But I worry every day and pray my child is not born like me.” Latif, who lives high in the mountains with his 25-year-old wife Salima, in Tuli Bana, in Jammu and Kashmir, travels to Srinagar for four months of the year to beg and find money. He was born with a small lump on his face, but it has continued to grow and now form huge flaps across his face, making it impossible for him to see. Latif says: “My mother still cries when she looks at me. She feels so much guilt and cannot understand why her youngest boy was cursed.”

Latif is the youngest of two brothers and three sisters - and the only child suffering this condition. Without his siblings, he would’ve lived a very lonely childhood without friends: “Nobody wanted to play with me as a child,” he recalls. “The boys in my village used to beat me and taunt me every day. I lost my left eye when I was eight years old and they used to call me one-eye freak. As an adult, Latif continues to face many struggles. He is a strong man, but because of his failing eyesight and facial condition no-one would give him a job.

He says: “I’d love to do an honest day’s work like a normal man providing for his family. It would make me so proud, but no one will give me a chance. I have to beg and hope people take pity on me so that I can feed my family.” Latif remembers many occasions when people spat on him as they walked past. However, four years ago Latif finally met the love of his life. His parents tried hard to find him a wife, but no girl would come forward, until Latif heard about Salima.

“My wife has only one foot, and so for many years she struggled to meet a husband. As soon as we met we knew we were right for one another,” he says. “We were both medically incomplete, we were a good match.” They married in a traditional Muslim summer ceremony with 400 guests, in August 2008, and have been very happy ever since. “I feel very blessed to have met Salima, she is good for me.", Latif adds. “I feel a little normal now I have a wife, a little more complete than I did before. And now that she is pregnant with our first child, I am even happier.

No matter how I look I am a happy man right now.” But Latif, who is in no pain and takes no medication, still worries his child will be born with the same facial condition. He says: “We can’t afford to see a doctor now, we’re too poor. And no doctor in the past has told me not to have children.

I can only hope and pray that our baby will be healthy.” Latif’s brother decided to sell some land eight years ago to pay for a trip to send Latif to see a doctor. But, Latif says, “The doctor told me that my condition was due to a solar eclipse when my mother was pregnant with me. I don’t know whether to believe him.

“And now there is so many veins going through my creases that surgery would be too dangerous. I have lost all hope of help. “This is how I’ll look forever.” Now, that God has blessed him with a wife, and he is waiting for his first child to be born, maybe he found his happiness? He surely deserves it... We hope his child is born without medical complications...

The biggest winner at the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards, Kanye West was apparently absent from the award show which took place on September 29, 2012 but was aired on October 8, 2012.

The G.O.O.D Music lead producer won seven awards out of 17 he was nominated for including ‘Producer of the Year’ and ‘Track of the Year’ shared with rap partner Jay Z.

Another big winner of the night was Def Jam rapper 2 Chainz who walked away with three awards including the ‘Rookie of the Year’, beating MMG rapper Meek Mill.

Big players Jay Z and Rick Ross didn’t go home empty as they won the ‘Hustler of the Year’ and ‘MVP of the Year’ respectively.

Man Catches ‘Prostitute’ Wife Sleeping With a Client in Matrimonial Bed inShare

A cheated Harare man will spend three months in jail for severely beating his wife after he caught her having sex with her lover in their matrimonial bedroom. Odey Chipenhu (37) was initially slapped with a five month jail term of which two months were set aside for five years on condition of good behavior.

The remaining three months shall be effective. Interestingly, the woman at the centre of the storm, Jennifer Muranda (27), had been arrested for loitering for the purposes of prostitution. It is further alleged that on the fateful day, she hooked up with another man soon after release from police custody. She proceeded home where she had sex with the man only to be caught red handed in the midst of their royal rumble.

The case was heard before Mbare magistrate, Vicky Mashamba. State prosecutor, Ephraim Zinyandu hat it that on 29 September, Odey was at his workplace at Joy Centre Night Club where he is employed as a bar man. At around 4am, Odey was advised that his wife had been arrested for loitering for the purpose of prostitution. The State had it that Odey sought permission from his employer so that he could attend to his wife.

He then went to the police station where he was advised that his wife had been released. He however went straight home at House No. 5375 New Canaan, Highfield where he found his wife stark naked, having sex with her client. He could not stomach the sight and he attacked the couple. Jennifer sustained serious injuries. She decided to report the matter to the police leading to the arrest of her husband.

IRS plane and truck collide at MM Airport in Lagos

An IRS Plane yesterday morning collided with an abandoned truck parked beside the taxiway at Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos. The wing of the aircraft collided with the truck which forced the Kano-bound plane to cancel the flight. Passengers were later put in another flight. A statement from IRS Airline below...

“This morning our flight LVB 3306 taxied out on a Lagos to Kano flight with a transit stop at Abuja. The aircraft taxied out at 7:48am with 91 passengers. While taxing on the taxi way the Captain observed a FAAN truck in a ditch. There were no marshals around it neither was there any marking to indicate that it encroached into the taxi way. There was no Notice To Air Men (NOTAM) issued to that effect as well. The captain continued on his taxi and the wing tip hit a protrusion from the truck towards the rear of the truck. This made the captain request a return to ramp from the tower and also notify the tower of the incident and the danger posed by the truck. The passengers were disembarked and accommodated in another aircraft which departed Lagos at 10:15am. The incident has been reported to Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and we await the clearance of the NCAA to effect repairs and return the aircraft to service.

No passenger or crew sustained injuries as a result of the incident.

Aluu 4 killings: Omuokiri-Aluu Chief, 10 Others Charged To Court

11 people including the traditional head of Omuokiri-Aluu community, Chief Alhaji Hassan Walewa have been arraigned at the High Court in Port Harcourt over the brutal murder last Friday of four students of the University of Port Harcourt.

The state Police Commissioner, Mr Mohammed Ndabawa who made this known when the Executive Secretary of the National Human rights Commission, Prof Ben Agwe and his team visited him at the Police headquarters in Port Harcourt said a total of thirteen persons had so far been arrested in connection with the ugly incident.

The state Police boss who spoke through his Deputy Police Commissioner, Mr Thomas Etomi said two persons out of the thirteen were kept behind to aid police investigation. He assured that the Police would unearth all details relating to the murder, adding that the Commission would be kept abreast with minute developments from the Police angle on the issue. (Vanguard)

The white wedding was scheduled to take place in January in the US but it never held. A few months later, Juliet changed her FB status from married to single. After months of keeping mum about what really happened, Juliet gave an interview recently revealing that her marriage ended a while back after just a few months. What she said after the cut...

"We parted ways over irreconcilable differences. We were incompatible. At a point, being in the marriage became life threatening. If I was still in it, my enemy may have been dead by now, all in the name of trying to make it work and to avoid what people will say.

I had to cancel the wedding in America because here in Nigeria where my family and his family are, there were verbal and domestic abuse. Going to a foreign land where I knew no one would have been worse. So, there was no need for the American wedding since it was already failing in Nigeria." Chima's friends alleged that Juliet cancelled the wedding not because she was abused in the short-lived marriage but because she found out Chima wasn't as rich as he claimed. Juliet says the allegation is completely false.

I didn't marry him for money and I don't know where people got that perception from. Maybe because I am an attractive lady, people assume I will only date for money but that's not true. What matters to me is love. If I was going to get married because of money, I would have been married to other men far richer than Chima long ago. But I turned down a lot of offers because I wanted to love and be loved. I am comfortable with the money I make from my job, so money wasn't the deciding factor in that marriage.
