“Mr. ex-President, you are my mugu” – Eedris Abdulkareem fires back at Obasanjo

Eedris Abdulkareem, the Kennis Music rapper and former member of the Remedies trio has hit back on former president Olusegun Obasanjo who famously lambasted him for critcising the country in his 2004 hit song, ‘Nigeria jaga-jaga‘. Obasanjo, recently, fired verbal shots at the rapper – yes, rapper – in Abeokuta, Ogun State, at the Nigeria Leadership Initiative forum last Tuesday. Reports say Abdulkareem went on Twitter to defend himself calling the respected former president a ‘Mugu’. He tweeted: “Mr. ex-president, I heard you were talking about me in ur last interview hahahahahhahah its obvious you can’t do without me. You are my mugu. Obasanjo na my mugu oooo na jeje i dey, u dey look for trouble oooo…. hahahahahhahahahahhahahah.” “Mr ex-president, u be my mugu!” he continued. Abdulkareem maintained his position concerning his assessment of the country saying the situation is even worse that it ever was. He tweeted: “It’s obvious that Obasanjo can’t do without me. I’m his joy therapy. Mr ex-president, Nigeria still dey jagajaga infact worst pass jagajaga.” The outspoken former Remedies member accused the former president of supporting the terrorist activities of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram against the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. “President Obasanjo if you truly love Goodluck as u claimed why don’t you talk to your fellow boko haram member to let Goodluck rule in peace,” he tweeted. In a sarcasm-filled tweet, he thanks the former president for his fixation on him and called him a source of musical inspiration. He revealed he will be releasing a new single titled: ‘Obasanjo na my friend’, to fire back at the Ota farmer. Many observers see these verbal exchange as a ploy by both men to once again achieve public relevance.
